Information Resources: Tanzania Local Finance Initiative (LFI-T): Informal Technical Workshop, October 25th, 2012

The Local Finance Initiative of Tanzania (LFI-T) is an innovative programme of the Government of Tanzania and the United Nations Capital Development Fund, which officially began in May 2012. The LFI-T Programme has the overall objective of unblocking the domestic financial sector for local economic development through a combination of catalytic infrastructure projects; enhanced capacities of local stakeholders to identify, develop and finance such projects; and an improved information and coordination system that allow speedy resolution of the challenges impeding access to domestic finance. On October 25th, 2012, LFI-T conducted its first informal technical workshop with specific objectives: a) Presentation of the LFI technical approach, b) Definition of the specific issues blocking access to finance in concert with project sponsors, government officials, development partners, and financial institutions, c) Identification of possible solutions, the needed steps, and the participants, and d) Formulation of specific details of the identified solutions, including type of capacity-building training and support programmes that can be integrated into the LFI-T Programme & other related programmes. The workshop materials are provided in the links below.
