Our Role

As a non-profit organization, GlobalDF serves as an independent expert-based “Clearinghouse” to facilitate the development of bankable investments with capacity-building tools, business models, and credit enhancements, addressing the lack of bankability and public-private coordination failures.

GlobalDF Advises Africa Co-Guarantee Platform

GlobalDF Executive Director Dr. Barbara Samuels developed the business plan and operations of the Africa Co-Guarantee Platform (AfDB, Afreximbank, ATI, GuarantCo, ICIEC, and the African Union Development Agency NEPAD).

GlobalDF engaged by GIZ to develop Investment Roadmaps & Training for African Climate Projects

Given the urgent need to increase access to finance for climate projects in Sub-Saharan Africa, GlobalDF developed investment roadmaps for climate projects and training materials, defining unlocking actions for local and national governments.

GlobalDF provides input on how to accelerate infrastructure development in Africa

GlobalDF Executive Director Dr. Barbara Samuels contributed to the recommendations set forth in the OECD/ACET Report “Quality Infrastructure in 21st Century Africa,” including developing an African professional project finance community.

GlobalDF helps design the Global Investors for Sustainable Development Alliance (GISD Alliance) convened by the UN Secretary-General

The GISD Alliance is a group of leaders of major financial institutions convened by the United Nations Secretary-General to scale up investments to achieve the SDGs.

GlobalDF creates new tool to maximize African jobs resulting from infrastructure

Given the urgent need for job creation in Africa, GlobalDF was engaged by GIZ to create the PIDA Job Creation Toolkit to optimize job creation resulting from infrastruc¬ture projects.

GlobalDF advises G-20 leadership at the UN

Given the need for more effective infrastructure for development, GlobalDF presented recommendations to the Saudi leadership at the 2019 G20 Development Working Group Workshop.

In support of the business steering committee of Financing for Development (FfD), GlobalDF facilitated the preparation of the Business Sector Steering Committee’s proposals to UN Member States.

Given the urgent need to mobilize institutional investment in Africa’s infrastructure, the report sets forth critical unlocking actions that can be implemented immediately by institutional investors and host governments.

Given the urgent need to mobilize finance for the development of bankable projects in Africa, unlocking actions have been benchmarked by GlobalDF based on surveys of project developers and investors.

GlobalDF develops concrete management techniques, financial structures, training materials, coordination and communication platforms, and knowledge tools that increase the capacity of government officials, development agencies, and the private sector to collaborate effectively in creating business-enabling environments and the identification, development, and financing of infrastructure and other productive projects critical to sustainable development
